Ecuador through Bolivia (W. South America)

Trunk Type:

Clean woody trunk, 15-20 inches in diameter.

Leaf Type:

Plumose (fluffy appearance)and pinnate (feather shape) leaves.

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitary (single trunk).

Maintenance:

Easy

Speed of growth:

Slow to moderate

Height:

30-40 feet

Soil requirements:

Rich + good drainage

Sun requirements:

Partial sun to full sun.

General Description:

This is a elegant and beautiful palm. It is hard to come by and is widely sought after. It has dark green or gray/green leaves. It is more hardy that Parajubaea coccoides, and in most peoples opinion more beautiful.

Further Data:

It has been a great grower for most of Southern California. Some trees have set seeds in Southern California. Germination rates on these seeds have been low, but I suspect in time this palm should become more readily available.
