Description

   

Locality:

From the Malaysian peninsula to the Philippines and Indonesia.

Cold Hardiness: 

Cold sensitive, for tropical areas. Doesn't tolerate coldweather, very marginal  even in the best areas of So CA.  does poorly at low 30s, F., severe cold damage.

Trunk type:

Slender, green trunk with rings, green colored crownshaft.

Leaf type:

Pinnate (feathery shaped), arched leaves.

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitaire (single trunk).

Maintenance:

Average

Speed of growth:

Medium

Height:

20' feet plus.

Soil requirements:

Average moist, regular watering and good drainage.

Sun Requirements:

Some partial shade to full sun in the tropics.

General Description:

Very gorgeous palm in the appropriate environment. 

Other Notes:

Fruit known to have a psychotropic effect on people.
