Madagascar

Cold Hardiness: 

25-28 F.

Trunk type:

Slender green trunks.  Blue/green crown.

Leaf type:

  4-6 feet.  Keeled green leaves.

Suckering/Solitary:

Suckering.

Maintenance:

Easy

Speed of growth:

Moderate

Height:

15-20 feet

Soil requirements:

Rich + good drainage.

Sun Requirements:

Partial to full sun along coast.

General Description:

This is a great suckering Madagascar palm.  It has a lot of color and has been grown with great success all over Southern California.  It is a great plant to put in as a filler palm or on its own.

Other Notes:

This palm should be grown in sun along the coast and filtered light inland.  It is slow to begin with, but once it establishes a little size, is a much better grower.
