Fiji

Cold Hardiness: 

32 F.

Trunk type:

Clean gray trunk, with a white crown speckled with green, gray and black.

Leaf type:

  Long drooping leaves.  Leaflets are a dark
  green with serrated tips.

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitary

Maintenance:

This palm can be grown in Southern California, although it is not the easiest palm.

Speed of growth:

Moderate to fast

Height:

20 feet+

Soil requirements:

Rich and sandy

Sun Requirements:

Partial to full sun.

General Description:

This is a beautiful palm.  It is a bit temperamental when it is young, but is easier as it matures.  It is a great palm to try for warmer areas, i.e., you don't freeze.

If you like this palm see Archontophoenix purpurea, Howea forsteriana, Rhopalostylis baueri and Burretiokenita hapala.
