Locality:	Mexico and Central America
Cold Hardiness:	About 25º F.
Trunk Type:	Single trunk, when young, has prominent bulge at the base of the trunk.
Leaf Type:	Pinnate (feather shape), usually only holds about 5 leaves.
Suckering/Solitary:	Solitary (single trunk)
Maintenance:	Average
Speed of growth:	Slow to Medium
Height:	20 feet
Soil requirements:	Rich (high in organics and nutrients), well draining soil.
Sun requirements:	AM sun, Full sun in Coastal areas. Inland, filtered sun.
General Description:	A unique species that is known for the bulge at the base of the trunk. Then, miraculously, this bulge shrinks as the palm matures, eventually giving a somewhat thin-trunked palm. Other species of Gaussia are also quite nice
