DIOON MEJIAE CONTAINER SIZE: Citrus pot CAUDEX SIZE: Double plant with two caudexes size two inches PRESENCE OF OFFSETS/PUPS: PLANT NUMBER: 3 RARITY: Very rare COMMENTS: This Dioon is unique in that it is native to Honduras and Nicaragua. It is extremely slow growing. Anticipate that, in a decade or two, the trunk will still be under two feet tall. It tolerates some sun but looks better if you don't put it in full sun - the latter makes the leaves "limey". Newly emerging leaves are super soft and wooly. part day sun. Little is known about this species as it is so rare.

COMMENTS: This smaller blue Macrozamia
is native to New South Whales, Australia. I've had them in stock
once or twice at the nursery and found them to be unbelievably slow
growing. It's near impossible to get seeds nowadays. The
leaf color is blue and this species wants full sun. It seems to be
very cold tolerant. Pinnae can be divided and leaf length is
generally about three feet. For a small cycad, this plant is
superb.

Trunks can get overhead. This is a good sized green cycad.

COMMENTS: This is one of the largest cycads of
the Macrozamia family. Native to Australia, sizes can
reach about fifteen feet with an overhead trunk. The width of the
crown of leaves can easily get to ten feet. This species has a
green and "blue" form. The latter isn't as blue as macdonnelli
above but definitely shows some blue. Also, M. moorei
is one of the most cold hardy of the genus. Folks in colder
areas are growing it. I'd estimate 18 degrees F. is its limit.
It also wants full sun in all areas except the desert. The plant
shown here is the green form.

Such is the case of the stems and leaves of Zamia inermis. This small to medium size cycad is from Mexico. Its stems can get up to about 3 feet and it holds a good number of leaves that are between two and four feet long. The leaf color is green.
