At Jungle Music Nursery we carry several hundred types of "house plants". This includes palms, cycads and lush tropical plants. The definition of a "houseplant" is anything that can be grown inside the home or office. Such plants are also referred to as "Interior Plants". Because many plants have never been tried indoors, the list is continually expanding as people have success with new types of plants.

Based on our and customer experiences, below you'll see examples of plants we carry that can do well inside of the home. Plants are listed alphabetically by species or common name. Plants shown below are not a comprehensive list of what we have available for sale - far from it. But, for this article, we've selected about 150 different plants to view. GUIDELINES FOR GROWING HOUSEPLANTS

Select right species for your conditions
Provide adequate light when needed
In general, use good draining soil
Water with distilled or reverse osmosis water if possible
Salt buildup in soil is biggest killer of houseplants over time
For those using municipal water, leach plants every few months
Watch for and treat insect problems quickly
Mist plants or provide good humidity when needed
Water when top inch of potting soil becomes dry
Consider outdoor shade exposure during warm weather
Completely spray down, leach soil and "shower" plants occasionally
Protect your floors and surfaces with waterproof platters
Repot plants into larger containers when needed
Remember, some "houseplants" may not grow for you
