Madagascar

Cold Hardiness: 

Uncertain.  Several at nursery tolerated 25 degrees F.  Estimated 25 to 28 degrees F.

Trunk type:

Solitary with woody trunk.  No crown shaft

Leaf type:

  Pinnate

Suckering/Solitary:

Single trunk

Maintenance:

Average.

Speed of growth:

Slow to medium

Height:

20 to 25 feet or more

Well draining soil

Other Notes:

This species was originally called B. madagascarensis, later B. "window" palm and more recently B. fenestralis.

  Overall Large pinnate palm with medium sized trunk, long green leaves and some cold tolerance.  Is extremely rare.
