New Caledonia Island (East of Australia).

Cold Hardiness: 

Down to 30-32, F.

Trunk type:

Single, thin trunk, limey-green colored crownshaft [a woody shaft at the top of the trunk composed of tightly wrapped leaf-bases].

Leaf type:

Pinnate (feathered shape).


Solitary (single trunk).



Speed of growth:

Slow to medium.


Domestic, up-to 20' feet; grows taller in the wild.

Soil requirements:

Rich (high in organics and nutrients), average moisture and good drainage.

Sun Requirements:

Filtered light.

General Description:

A thin trunked (approximately 4" to 6" inches), medium-height palm with a long, green crownshaft.  Quite rare palm.  Likes filtered light.

Other Notes:

Holds multiple blossoms below the crownshaft. It is quite rare.
