Trunk type:

This palm has a slender trunk (8 inches approximately) that is dark and woody.

Leaf type:

The leaves are pinnate (feather shaped) and have a gold/bronze color to the underside of the leaf.  The leaves tend to be upright and dark green.


Solitary (single trunk)


Easy but likes humidity.

Speed of growth:

Slow to moderate


10-15 feet.

Soil requirements:

Rich and sandy soil that drains well.

Sun Requirements:

Shade or partial sun.

General Description:

This is a beautiful palm.  It is a good grower for many areas in California, including San Francisco.

Other Notes:

In the wild (Mt. Lewis, Queensland, Australia) it grows adjacent to Archontophoenix purpurea.
